This release can not be installed automatically (contact BTMI if you want to proceed).

A special build of HLMSW available here http://www.hlmsw.com/updates7/Beta/HLMSWv7SetupTest.msi will allow you to run and test some of the new features using existing data structures (although it should not be installed on the same computer that has v3 of HLMSW installed). When this version starts the following warning is displayed and not all new features are available:

This verison should only be used byse users with test facilities and should NOT be used on a live system until the final release.

This version of HLMSW has new functionality related to Zinfonia.

This build (which is located in the Beta section) includes changes that allow you to search Zinfonia for composer information and also allows you to use character-based wildcards to search character, numeric and auto increment Extra Database fields.

The wildcards work like this:

1___ will find all numbers between 1000 to 1999

1[123]__ will find all numbers between 1100 to 1399

1[^123]__ will find all numbers between 1000 to 1999 but NOT between 1100 to 1399

HLMSW and Vista/Windows 7

HLMSW versions 3 and below will not operate under Windows 7 or Vista.

We are already testing a new version which rectifies this problem which we will include in a major release scheduled for early 2010, and should work on both 32 and 64-bit versions with one disclaimer being that you will need to mark the "Run as Administrator" option.

Manually updating a HLMSW Client

The HLMSW AutoUpdater (AUSETUP.EXE) program is usually sufficient to keep your HLMSW system up to date, but on some computers for reasons unknown it cannot provide the update services required. In this situation a manual update may be required.

A manual update is performed by simply extracting the updated files from specific CAB archives that are stored on the server (if you are unsure of the location of these update files, please contact your HLMSW Administrator or BTMI).

Before starting this process it is very important that you do NOT have HLMSW running, and you have Administrative rights.

To extract files, under XP/Vista all you need to do is to double click the CAB file to view the contents, select all of the files displayed (Ctrl-A) and then right-click the selected files and select the Extract option. You must then select the destination for the files which are described below (the destination changes from file to file) and select the YES prompt when warned about overwriting the files. (You may choose to make a backup of these files, or to copy them elsewhere before you overwrite them).

The files you need to extract and the destinations are listed below:

HLMSW.CAB Destination: The default HLMSW folder (usually C:\HLMSW or C:\Program Files\HLMSW)
LANG.CAB Destination: The default HLMSW folder (usually C:\HLMSW or C:\Program Files\HLMSW)
SDE61.CAB Destination: The Windows System32 folder (usually C:\Windows\System32)

This build of HLMSW adds some important new features including:

Updated Barcode routines including an internationally unique part barcode to allow individual parts to be tracked.
Shortcut keys are now completely customisable to allow for new short cuts and to solve problems caused by some keyboard layouts
Major changes to the Set Status routine to improve its speed and functionality (especially for works with a large number of parts).
Permanent restrictions on the width of dispatch addresses are now possible.

1) Group Edit

When group editing transactions, at the conclusion of the process, it was possible for HLMSW to have showing the wrong set against a transaction. If this transaction is then immediately edited and saved, then the incorrect set is also permanently saved. Until the new version is installed, we recommend that you clear the displayed transactions after a group edit is complete.

2) Forms at HLMSW Startup

On some forms and systems, HLMSW was not correctly handling the invoice values when HLMSW first starts.

Updated - The attached file facility has been changed to allow you to immediately view any downloaded file. If the item is NOT being edited, you can download an item and you will be prompted to view it as soon as it has been downloaded. If the item IS being edited then, once you download the file and view it, you MUST close the application you used to view it before continuing. If HLMSW detects that changes to the file have been made, you have the option to upload the new version straight away.

A significant bug has been found in HLMSW and a new version has been posted to correct this problem (and all companies with test systems have this version now installed).

This bug affects the calculation of tax values when the AMOUNT column is NOT displayed in the invoice grid.

It is very important that you check ALL systems that invoice that the Amount column is displayed. The easiest way to do this is to locate an existing invoice or credit, and RIGHT-CLICK the Invoice Grid area, and a popup menu will be displayed:

If there is NO Check against the AMOUNT line, then select this line so that the column is displayed as per the Image. If the amount column is already displayed, then this problem will not affect you.

The current release removes the possibility of hiding this column,

PLEASE DO NOT UPDATE HLMSW WITHOUT DISCUSSING IT WITH US.

As soon as this release has been tested, I will arrange a suitable time to update your installation, but make sure that the steps outlined previously have been followed.
